Womens Trench Coats
"A Classic Must-Have Wardrobe Staple"
Womens trench coats are chic, feminine and timeless. I especially like the belted style as it defines a waist for a womanly silhouette.
The black trench coat is a
perfect all-arounder for every season and occasion, while a beige trench gives a subtle air of Spring.
For a pop of color you can try something bright such as a red, blue or purple trench.
There's no doubt that trench coats can make you feel very sleek, and if you choose the black one you'll instantly look 10 pounds slimmer!
They're quite versatile and go with absolutely everything, from casual jeans to sophisticated dress pants, and with all of the rainbow's colors.
How to Buy Womens Trench Coats
Choose the right hemline
Right above the knee or shorter is the perfect length for most body figures. It'll avoid dragging down your frame and making
your legs look stubby. This is a must-follow if you're a petite and/or plus size woman. Your goal should be to create a lean line from your legs and up
without shortening your figure.
PS: I don't usually recommend long á la Matrix lengths as it'll make your outfit outdated.
Pick the right fit
Never skip this step when buying womens trench coats. Even the slightest difference in size (I'm talking about an inch) can
offset your figure, making you look weird if it's tight, bigger if it's big or shorter if the sleeves swamp your arms.

If you really, really love and want a trench coat
but discover that the size is a little different from what you should buy then commit yourself to having it altered at your local tailor!
Be creative with your coat
One of my favorite looks is the classic black trench coat - dark wash skinny jeans and black high heel boots. However it
might appear to standard for most women so you should look into mixing and matching the outfit differently. You can for example swap up the pants with hosiery
like opaque tights or lace tights for a more up-to-date outfit!
Tip: Try wrapping a wide or skinny belt around the waist for a modern look.
Experiment with different styles
If you've already secured the basic one's like the black trench coat and wish to expand your collection even more
then try short-sleeve or ¾ length coats for a fun and chic look. You can easily pair it up with
a scarf for a nice layering look. Also search
for rounded collars, button styles and even prints (plaid is very popular for fall/winter).
Dress your body shape
- Apple and inverted triangle body shape with a heavy or wide upper half:
Choose single breasted. Opt for a coat the flares out at the bottom to
balance out your shape. If your upper body is not your best feature, avoid adding width with slouchy necks and go for trench coat with a sleek collar.
- Pear body shape with wide hips and butt:
Go for flared or A-line hem as it skims over the curves.
Select a trench with shoulder pads and anything with lots of details on top will
help balance out your body figure.
- Rectangle body shape with little waist definition:
Anything that adds dimensions on top and bottom will do good. Also keep your waist defined with a belted trench.
- Hourglass body shape:
Since it's considered the most ideal body shape you can get away with almost anything. A belted trench will emphasize the beauty in
your figure.
