Womens Tank Tops
"Perfect for Layering and Casual Styling"
Womens tank tops are some of your indispensable investments. Compared to long-sleeved t-shirts they're superb for layering - and are your to-go add-ons to your summer bottoms. They're also very affordable and come in a wide range of colors and styles.
One of the most important pointers to have in mind when selecting a tank top (and look your best, of course!) is to select the right style and neckline for your body figure. A V-neck is universally flattering but scoopnecks are especially good for accentuating the bust-area. Let me take you through a couple of fashion tips on how to look chic in tank tops:
How to Look Good in a Tank Top
Avoid showing off the bra strap
Especially for office settings. But it applies to any occasion and outfit where you want to look chic and presentable. Instead, opt for a strapless bra or wear another tank top with slightly wide straps to help hide the bra strap.
A stylish way to wear a tank top with large arm holes (casual tank tops that show the sides of your ribcage) is to pair it with a bandeau bra. If you have the right personal style and love combining clothing styles- try a triangle lace bra..

... But this styling requires a small bust to avoid looking tacky!
Work with your upper body proportions
When buying womens tank tops, make sure to select the right strap size scaled to the width and shape of your shoulder-line.
If you have broad shoulders (see: Inverted Triangle Body Shape) I suggest wider straps instead of spaghetti straps because they won't make your shoulders look bigger in comparison. If you have narrow shoulders look for tank tops with slimmer straps, unless you want to make your shoulder-line smaller! :-)
How to select the right neckline
You might want to choose a neckline based on your bust size and body shape. Take a look at these basic guidelines:
This is a general rule that applies to well-dressed occasions, not necessarily the activities you partake in after work ;-)
Keep in mind that if you have a large bust then it can take the attention away from your other assets and can make people take you less serious. So playing it down a bit can help people's focus.
In general, this styling trick is for anyone who wants to fill out the chest area to help balance out a bottom-heavy body shape. Whether it be prominent thighs, legs or butt.
You might also want to experiment with horizontal prints (for example navy stripes), breasts pockets and womens tank tops in a light or bright color.
You might also want to look for womens tank tops that are plain and simple (in a dark neutral color) without any eye-catching details (an exception is vertical prints and details).
How to Wear a Tank Top
With a basic tank top you'll be able to experiment with eye-popping accessories and create a fashion statement. It's also a superb "neutralizer" when layered with trendy garments such as a print cardigan or skirt.

Basic tank tops consist of fuss-free details (minimal on embellishments) and in a solid neutral or timeless color. They'll go with absolutely anything! I suggest that you secure them in neutrals such as white/cream/ivory, browns, black, grays, dark blues and/or olive green depending on your coloring) before adding other harder-to-match colors such as bright orange and yellow.
Casual tank tops usually have a relaxed cut and come in various prints, details and styles, such as babydolls, racerbacks, asymmetrical and fly-away hems and the loose, oversized type where you show off large parts of your torso.

Casual trendy tank tops are great for defining your personal style, but if you want to build a cost-effective wardrobe, I advise you to select womens tank tops that are solid colored but in different stylish and timeless details. Examples are: ruffles, lace (crochet), stripe prints, college prints, tribal prints.
Tip: Take note of the details that always return every season and you'll be able to build a closet with tank tops that never go out of style. Check out Fall/Winter Trendessentials and Spring/Summer Trendessentials for lists of timeless prints, materials and colors!
Dressy tank tops usually have some luxe to them such as sequins, lace, sheen or silk fabric, ruffles - which can be appropriate for work and perfect for looking extra pretty without going all the way with a dress.

They're perfect for creating an ultra-chic juxtaposition with classy and casual. A dressy tank top goes great with basic bottoms, such as pencil and black leather skirts, dark denim jeans, pants and even dress shorts.
