Womens Denim Shirt
"Take the Western Look to a Chic Level"
Along with the jeans in your closet, the womens denim shirt has become a necessity for many fashionistas. Channeled from the late 90s, the denim shirt has become a timeless piece that can add a cool and laid-back flair to your style.
I especially love how well it works with other pieces that are the opposite from casual - like for example a ruffle skirt or a feminine floral dress. It's such as great piece for creating a juxtaposition with the cool and the girly! It has an excellent layering capability which makes it a really great add-on to your Spring and Fall closet.
If your style is on the casual side, you'll notice how a denim shirt can be worn with almost anything, time after time.. You can wrap a belt around it, or wear it as a tunic top or dress, pair it with chino trousers, tuck into a skirt (my fave look!) or just leave it unbuttoned and throw it over a tee or a cute dress. If you're feeling bold and confident, you can even do a double-denim take on the shirt.
The versatility of the shirt can be further discussed because it's not for everyone, but I'm sure that if you're into casual fashion or you're looking to stretch your style envelope then it will come in handy!
How to Look Good in a Denim Shirt
Chambray as good as denim:
Chambray is a closely woven, firm fabric with a glossy surface. It's a popular substitute to the thick and heavy denim is the chambray shirt. It looks like denim but it is made of lightweight cotton cloth, which goes hand in hand with spring.
Don't be afraid to go denim from top to toe:
The trick is to select your bottom in an opposite colored color.
For example, a dark blue womens denim shirt with a pair of light colored jeans shorts. Or vice versa. Another important pointer to the double-denim look, is to add a handful of textural interest to your outfit. Such as a belt, a stylish handbag, and perhaps a pair of nice shoes. Colors are important too.
For an ultra-chic look scout for shirts with pearlized snap-buttons. It makes the shirt look more pretty and counters the cowgirl appeal. However there are other ways to soften the western feel, which is mentioned in the next pointer..
Create a juxtaposition:
Just because the shirt is a casual clothing, you don't have to match it with other casual or trendy pieces. Make it yours with heels, ruffles, jewelry and other girly accessories and details.
Create an ultra-chic look by pairing it with classy/dressy pieces such as a fancy skirt (flouncy, sparkly, pencil shaped, etc.) and a pearl necklace. And maybe throw in a pair of high heels and an envelope clutch purse to prettify the look!
