When to Wear a Dressy Ruffle Halter Top?

This is basically what the top looks like, except made out of cotton and not as fancy.

I have a dressy halter top that has ruffles on the top, and it looks too fancy for work but too casual for parties. When do I wear this and what do I wear it with?!

If the dressy top has large ruffles as the one in the picture, then it's definitely a statement garment that needs to be balanced and oftentimes tamed.

You're right about the top being a tricky one -- it might look too dressed up for work (unless you're the editor in a fashion magazine). However it would work for semi-formal occasions (where men have to wear dress pants and shirts, and women dress or a skirt combo). Just pair the blouse with a sexy pencil skirt, wide belt, glitzy stud or chandelier earrings and pair of stilettos, then you're good to go!

I don't know what your job position is or where you work, but I believe you can make the ruffle blouse work for you by taming it down with a basic, button down cardigan or vest, along with tailored dress pants and a leather handbag. If your workplace is more relaxed and ruffles is completely your style, a pair of beige chino pants/shorts and wedge sandals would look good to create casual-preppy-flirty look. It's good to wear with denim jeans and bermuda denim shortsfor daily wear as well. I saw these two lovely outfits from J Crew and Ralph Lauren and got inspired:

I hope I gave you some ideas!
