What Should I Wear for a Wedding Party in Winter?

by Aruna
(Rourkela)

What should I wear for a party in Winter? It's my uncles marriage.

Hi Aruna,
for your uncle's wedding party, you may want to opt for a classy outfit with sprinkles of trendy accents such as bright color, stylish clutch or high heel shoes.

What personal fashion style do you have?

Accessories can change the look of your outfit (I assume your dress or top and skirt are simple in style and color). You can create a dramatic look with chunky and bold jewelry; go glam with sparkly chandelier earring; or look classy and polished with diamond stud earrings and a pair of simple heeled pumps.

For your uncle's wedding I would chose the latter. Here are my suggestions on what to wear:

How to Look Polished and Classy on a Wedding

  • Solid colored dress in one of these fashionable but basic colors: plum/purple, black and white, navy blue. You can never go wrong with floral though
  • Sheer nude or black pantyhose to polish your look and smooth out your legs
  • A pashmina shawl if your shoulders are bare
  • Pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet. Or simple crystal stud earrings with a matching crystal cocktail ring and/or bracelet
  • Strappy high heels shoes in gold or silver. But pumps give you a mature look.

If you need more help, please submit your details with the comment link and I'll get back to you.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

What to Wear For a Morning Wedding?

by Georgia
(London, UK)

My husband's cousin is getting married in June, in a park in Kent, England. The wedding is at noon and it's gonna go through the evening.

I am not really sure what to wear. I don't wanna wear a long dress but I am not sure which colour/style to choose for a dress that has to look good both in the morning and in the evening.

I (think) I am an autumn and I used to be an hourglass shape but now I think am more of an apple because I always put on weight on my tummy.

Your site is great! I am always coming here to check it out!

Thanks,
Georgia

Hi Georgia! I'm glad you like my site, and thanks for being a loyal follower :)

Usually weddings that take place in the morning call for dressy casual attire (never mind the bridesmaids). Nothing flashy, glamorous, just simple and pretty. That means you should go for a great daytime sundress, something light, flowy and a bit flirty.

If you want a classy, sophisticated but up-to-date look you can never go wrong with a wrap dress which you can accessorize with a pair of trendy high heel sandals, beaded necklace in a bright color and an awesome clutch purse.

Or you could go for a semi-casual professional chic look; try a pair of slacks (sorry I meant dress pants!) or an A-line skirt (the slight flare on the bottom will draw the eye away from your apple torso) topped with a nice blouse and shawl.

It's June and it's perfectly fine to look summery in the evening. To take your outfit from day to evening, simply add a nice hip length blazer :)

For your body shape, a kimono style or simple wrap dress with a nipped waist, specifically an empire waist will help skim your midsection and highlight your bust in a flattering way

From looking at your picture (by the way, you've got nice legs) I 'm assuming that you're a mix of Deep Autumn and Deep Winter - so if you want a color that can take you from noon to evening I suggest you to pick deeper blues (ex. Chinese Blue), greens (ex. teal) or black with print (eg. floral to avoid looking like you're attending a funeral).

You can also pull off mint green and light yellow but that would look summery in the evening, but it can be toned down with darker colored accessories such as a clutch purse and high heels.

Let me know what you think. I'm looking forward to hear about your final decision :-)
