Tunic Shirts"Look Chic-Smart in a Tunic Shirt:
|
|||||
You can find tunic shirts in a variety of trendy styles, from sophisticated button-downs, boho floral print, country plaid pattern to short sleeves. Whatever you choose always have your body shape in mind because the wrong cut can make you look a little bigger. In fact, they're a bit harder to pull off because of the nature of the cut.
So before you go straight to shopping, here are some tips on how to buy the right shirt for your body shape:

Pick the right bottom
The thing about tunic shirts is that they make your legs look shorter because they already create the illusion of a longer torso. If you have a short torso then this can be a good thing but on the other hand if you already have short legs and are a petite or full-figure size then that can be a problem. The trick here is to pick a pair of pants or leggings that elongate your legs. Avoid capris and go for longer ones (anything that extends down to your ankle) in dark solid colors like black, dark grey, dark blue, dark brown, etc. Side-stitches, side-zippers or anything with strong vertical details will also elongate your legs.
Another thing when pairing your tunic shirt with a bottom is to make sure that it's fitted and not loose to avoid looking like you're drowning in clothes from top to toe.
What type of pants-cut should you choose?
I personally prefer pairing my tunic blouse with something slim and fitted around the legs like leggings, straight or skinny jeans. But that's just me! If you're bottom-heavy the downside is that they can draw attention to your curves even more and make you look wider at the bottom. So if you have a pear body shape, I advise you to balance it out with bootcut or wide leg jeans. The flared cut will instantly pull the eye away from your bottom. If you're wearing a tunic without a bottom, opt for basic shoes. However if you have an inverted triangle body shape with wider shoulder than the hips and legs you can offset that with a pair of great-looking shoes to add more attention and volume at the bottom to balance out your silhouette.
Choose the right shoes
If you have very short legs then you can also use shoes to elongate your legs even more. So go for heels and/or narrow toes. Another trick is to pick a pair that matches with the color of your bottom. Like for example black sandals with black leggings. Your legs will appear super-long and lean!
Feel that the garment is a little bit loose and boxy?
Solve that with a wide or skinny belt wrapped around your waist or wear it slung around your hips. It will make your waist look more defined and feminine , and of course, you'll look extra trendy!
