Sun Dresses
"How to Select the Perfect Sun Dress"
What better way is there to celebrate the warm weather than wearing gorgeous sun dresses? The warm months aren't the
same without the perfect summer frock.
You can find sun dresses in heaps of chic styles, from floral to abstract prints, to solid colors and color blocks. They also vary in lengths; knee
and thigh length being the most popular choice to show off your sunkissed legs and of course, maxi dresses which are a more elegant,
safe but indeed a trendy option for fashionistas as well as for full figure women with curvalicious curves!
How to Select a Flattering Summer Dress
Be careful with the hemline

I know, it's tempting to select short sun dresses for the hot weather but always make sure that the hem is NEVER shorter than the tip of your middle
finger when standing up with your arms casually straight down to avoid looking tacky and like you're wearing a long top without a bottom. A too short
dress ruins the proportions of the overall outfit.
Tip:
If you're buying a short sun dress then opt for knee length as it is universally flattering.
A maxi dress should hit just below the thinnest part of your ankle to avoid the dreaded length suicide effect.
Invest in classic summer prints that never go out of style
Such as floral, ethnic patterns, tie dye and colors like white/cream, yellow, medium to light
blue or pinks. White summer dresses are especially timeless.
Tip: The best styles that elongate your figure have a v-neck, are knee length and/or empire waist. They skim over large tummy and hips,
plus, the v-neck slims your torso compared to a scoop neck that add more width.
If you have a big bust
Opt for a halter neck dress should be one of your first choices as it gives excellent support. Compare a halter neck to basic spaghetti
straps that make your breasts look like they're going to tear up the top!
Tips for buying plus size summer dresses:
Avoid color blocks at they tend to chop up your silhouette and make you
look shorter and bigger.
If you're an average (height and size wise) to plus size

You'll look better in medium to large prints as they go hand in hand with your dimensions, but select the ones that run vertically. If you're
short and/or skinny you'll look best in smaller prints. Plus size AND short? Opt for medium size prints that stretch vertically.
Sweeten the look
With cute sandals such as espadrille or wedge sandals. Gladiator sandals are awesome too.
Choose the right fabric
Silk may be a lightweight fabric but it works as an insulator and chokes up your skin. Instead choose cotton, linen or lightweight
synthetics for extra comfort during the hottest summer days.
It's ok to shop in the Junior's section if you're not a Junior
Especially if you are petite and can't find anything you like in the 'mature' section.
Just make sure it suits your age; for example scour for basic sun dress styles that look ageless.
