March 14, 2012: Being the blazer-fanatic that I am, my heart skipped a beat when I saw print blazers in stores! There's just something about throwing it on a shirt dress that looks effortlessly chic.

If you want to create a chic statement for Spring then a patterns are the way to go. We'll be seeing a lot of these in both softly draped and button-less/shawl versions of a regular blazer. Floral and tribal patterns being the name of the game this springtime. So instead of wearing a trendy top with less combo options - you can look up-to-date by pairing your basic tees and dresses with a print blazer.

How to wear a printed blazer

The best way to pull off this trend is to keep the rest of your ensemble simple, unless you want to go full out with this season's fashion trends - such as print mixing and color blocking. Brown and black leopard prints work as neutrals and can be worn with one of the bright Spring/Summer color trends (eg. leopard print with bright orange) - or another print garment such as a classy navy striped top.

Want to make a trendy fashion statement? Then you'll find printed blazers in animal, polkadot, stars and other quirky prints too. Blazers are perfect for cool daytime Spring and Summer weather, but can also add the ideal coverage to a casual evening outfit when it's warm outside. They work well with shorts - however, you might want to experiment with dresses, skirts, jeans or pants. With me, a soft printed blazer would go hand in hand with my tank top dress and a sleek skinny belt wrapped around the waist.

This can be a tricky style to wear. What I have decided to do is wear what I feel confident in. If I love the pattern only then will I try it on. I have two patterned jackets, and they fit me in a classic style. Pockets at the bottom of the jacket, and no flaps for me, it ads volume to my frame. I bought them both from the Goodwill store. One is butter yellow with tan flowers, and the other is black with sky blue and white concentric circles. I adore them and often wear them with other prints.Keep in mind you can replace the buttons on a jacket, and give it an entirely different feel. They can also be worn with a white blouse and a solid skirt. Jeans look great with a patterned jacket. Keep it modern and fresh. other wise you can look like you need a makeover.
