Spandex Leggings

So what is it about spandex leggings that we really like? Is it the soft feel when running your fingers through the fabric? The comfy stretch that holds in our wobbly bits? Or the fact that they are a pair of stretch leggings that pull in the extra flab?

I say it's all three!

If there's one layering piece (besides basic tees) you must own, then that has to one or two pair of these stretchy cotton leggings. They are a quick fix when you want to wear something underneath a very short dress, a mini skirt or with tunic tops and shirts.

There is no doubt that they'll give your legs the freedom to move around. They're different from plain cotton leggings that seem to get bigger for every time you wear and wash them.

Spandex leggings are a fabric mix of both cotton and synthetic materials like Elastan/Lycra. They're an awesome material that makes a garment stretchier and durable all at the same time. Makes them a little bit shiny but the soft feel and look compensate that!

Select the right length for your legs

A rule of thumb is to avoid mid-calf leggings if you have full and/or short legs. This length brings attention to the thickest part of your calves and make you look stumpy.

The best length to go for hits somewhere below your calves and above your ankles. Showing your ankles help make you look taller and leaner.

This is an important strategy if you are Petite.

Never wear them as pants

It looks tacky. Unless you're wearing a pair of jeggings.

So make sure that the hemline of your top hits at least below the butt cheeks when standing, and 3/4 when bending.

Secure the basics

Such as black, dark brown, dark navy blue and cream/white. They go with most color and outfit combos.

After securing the basics have fun with splashy colors, like purples and plums, greens, electric blue, reds and mustard yellow for your Fall wardrobe! They'll add a pop of color to a basic dress. They're also a perfect match for your long knit sweaters!
