Shoe Issues: How to Wear Trendy Sandals Modestly?

Seychelles Gypsy Sandals

Seychelles Gypsy Sandals

I wanted to buy these sandals but I'm not quite sure how I could wear them.

I dress fairly modestly and I only wear full length dress, skirts, and jeans/pants. I also don't really wear skinny jeans, but boyfriend, flared, and trouser jeans are cool.

Can I still rock these sandals without looking like I'm trying too hard?

I would first like to say that you have great taste in shoes! I've been drooling over the white Seychelles Gypsy Sandals from Endless for quite some time now as well (I even mentioned them in my blog :-)). The teal ones are quite nice-looking too - a fun color and awesome sandal style for Spring/Summer 2010.

Those fabulous teal sandals do not only look with skinny jeans, but will also look great with baggy ankle length boyfriend jeans, long skirts and gorgeous maxi dresses!

Other options beside the skinny jeans are: straight leg jeans (a little fitted around the legs but slightly flared to avoid 'choking' your ankles), flare and wide leg jeans. I'm not a complete fan of bootcut jeans (I prefer my pants to either be fitted around my calves or completely flared but that's just a matter of personal taste) but they would work with the sandals.

Here are some outfit ideas with the sandals

Look #1
Here I chose a black v-neck maxi dress (add a black lace camisole underneath it to avoid showing off too much cleavage), a stack of beaded bracelets and a cropped denim jacket.

You can also switch to a cardigan but make sure that it's on the shorter side because long cardigan sweater together with a maxi dress can swamp you up. It looks too much if you're petite or very skinny.

Another tip is to go for a longer sleeved maxi dress if you prefer to cover up your arms without having to wear the jacket. Short and long sleeved are both stylish.

Look #2
A very casual yet chic outfit consisting of a slightly fitted long skirt with A-line hem, simple white v-neck t-shirt, a trendy turquoise/gold multi-layer necklace.

Adding a statement jewelry is a great way to spruce up a plain outfit - adding some chic glam to it!

Look #3
This a cute and casual outfit consisting of relaxed boyfriend jeans and a coral-pink 3/4 sleeve blouse tee.

You can wear the Seychelles sandals with another bright color as long as it is solid colored or consists of a simple color scheme. In this way, the rest of the clothes won't compete with the sandals.

I also added a stack of bangle bracelets to give a more trendy take to the whole ensemble.

Look #4
Here I added straight leg jeans with a tunic shirt and a fashionable brown dome studded belt around the waist. I added the belt to give more shape to the loose tunic shirt, but of course you can leave it out and go casual all the way.

If you're not comfortable with straight leg jeans then you could opt for flare or wide leg, but I recommend that you swap up the shirt with something more fitted or at least keep the belt on to maintain a nipped silhouette.

Hope this helps Eman!

PS: I got your email as well and this is my reply to your question.

Go and rock those sandals :-)

Sincerely,
