Same Shoes, Different Color - Fashion Go or No?
by Jill
Would it be a Fashion Faux Pas to get the same pair of womens boots in black? I found a pair of brown boots I'm absolutely in love with. I've been searching for months for a pair of black boots that I like (I have wider feet) and haven't found anything that fits or looks great. So, do I wait till next season for new black boots? Or buy the same style that I already have in brown? I've always believed in securing fashion pieces that complete your wardrobe, make you look and feel good, even if it means buying several pairs of the same style. Why let it slip away from your hands if it's perfect and you love it? I, myself, often get the same style in different colors -- whether it be tees, tops, sweaters, jewelry or shoes. I just recently purchased two pair of platform gladiator sandals in both black and brown because they're really comfy to walk in and I'm completely in love with them. Solidify your wardrobe and save time Getting the same style in several basic colors is a way to solidify your wardrobe, help you save time and keep you covered at all times . This is especially true if you've spent a lot of time searching for the perfect pair of boots to fit your feet (which is a sign that the item you're looking for isn't easily available - this gives you good reason to buy a another pair in the same style). Buy several of each style if they're easy to mix and match On the other hand, it also depends on how the boots look. Are they simple, timeless-looking and easy to match? If yes, then I'd say go for it! Do not hesitate, you'll be able to wear them next season. Fortunately, boot trends usually don't change drastically from season to season, so you have nothing to worry about. Ask yourself if you'll be able to wear them next season However if they feature lots of trendy complicated details (like ruffles, visible zipper embellishments, you know the deal) then you need to re-consider your purchase because the black boots won't be worth your investment if you're worried about looking out-of-date next season or if you can't wear them in multiple ways.. But on the flip side, it shouln't really matter that much as long as you feel that the design of the boots are true to your style. Just go and be yourself! :-) Hope this helps Jill.
