The best way to start is to find your inseam. You can do it yourself by measuring a pair that you fit you well. If you don't have any (sorry to say this, but then I really do feel a bit sorry for you!) then you need to grab your measuring tape and get a friend or your mother to measure from just below your crotch to right below your ankle.

Many petite women have an inseam between 26 to 31 inches. However if you're 5'7 and have short legs compared to your torso (see: vertical body shape) then you probably need to buy shorter inseams.
