Oval Face Shape

"Styling Tricks that Flatter Your Oval Face Shape"

An oval face shape is considered an ideal shape and a fashion stylist's dream because it is easier to style than other face shapes. The length of your face equals one and a half times the width. This face is well balanced and proportional.

Your face shape is often slightly wider at the mid-points of the sides. The jawline is softly rounded and not too narrow yet not too wide.

However, your hairline may be slightly wider than the lower part of the face and has the tendency to look like a diamond/heart facial shape, but it's really not because a diamond/heart shape is obviously more wider around the hairline and cheekbones.

Read along and discover the best styling tips for your shape, from hairstyles, sunglasses to jewelry.

Styling Focus for Oval Face Shape

You can practically wear anything so you're quite free to experiment with different styles -- from all kinds of prints, neck shapes, jewelry designs to hair styles.

However, you may have found that this not to be entirely true. Why exactly? Because the outline of your face shape is one of many factors in determining what suits you best.

Like for example you might have a classic face shape with a short or long neck, strong or delicate facial features, etc. Let's say you have an oval shape with a very prominent nose. So if you have bangs, the hair cut will draw attention to your nose and make it look more prominent.

All these factors should influence your choice of clothes, accessories and hairstyles.

Tip: You'll automatically shorten your face with bangs, so be careful when picking round and horizontal shaped earrings and necklace pendant which will make your face look wide and round.

Some of Your Best Pieces

  • Sunglasses with slightly rounded square frames
  • If you have delicate features (soft and curved): Sharp detail or corners, like triangles, square cut stones or straight lines.
  • If you have sharp features (sharp and angular): Soft shapes such as pearls, tear drops, circles, and ovals are best.
  • All kinds of hairstyles. Have in mind that a fringe can shorten your face and make it look rounder. If you don't want to look fleshier, make sure sure you sweep the fringe to the sides and pair it up with somewhat oblong earrings.

Tip: You might want to take advantage with your face shape by emphasizing your best facial features. Like for example, if you like the color of your eyes, wear something that will enhance them.
