Before we hit the stores and the outfit styling-section, let me give you some fashion advice on how to look fab in such frilly hosiery:

How to Look Good in Lace Hosiery

Secure them in black

Black lace tights are more versatile than nudes and other colors. And are more flexible when putting together an outfit, as well making a workwear outfit (or a party dress) look demure.

So unless you love lace then you should only stick to black lace hosiery, which this article will be focusing on :-)

Keep your outfit simple

Lace leggings and tights can be a bit loud unless you're good at balancing out the look. For me personally, they look best with solid colors, and even better (chic'er) with neutrals like black, browns, beige, dark blues, etc.

I don't like how most print dresses (except for versatile, neutral prints) battle with the tights and make your outfit look too much. So if you want to look chic and sleek, consider wearing skirts and dresses in solid colors.

If you want to stretch your style envelope then pair the tights with a bright color such as solid red, bold blue, mustard or plum. This is a great combo for showcasing a fun but chic personal style! You can also add a handbag in a complementary color such green with red. But you need the right clothing personality to pull this off!

Mix classy with vampy

Wearing classy garments with a pair of vampy lace hosiery looks incredibly chic, and is the key to looking sophisticated with a dash of edge.

So pair the tights with tailored garments, such as a blazer, white dress shirt or a pencil skirt. You can easily pull off the lace tights-look at work by pairing them up with a basic shift dress.

Tip: For a laidback everyday outfit, combine the lace tights with something masculine or casual to balance out the "feminine feel", such as long pullover sweaters or an oversized tee with denim shorts.

Select the right print size and shapes

So select the appropriate scaled lace print - if your legs are full opt for medium-sized prints. Smaller and busier ones if you have delicate ankles and legs.

Also, the right shaped lace prints can help slim down a pair of full legs. So if your legs are on the muscular side, avoid horizontal shapes and opt for vertical prints.

Tip: If you have so called "chicken legs" then go easy on very large prints as they can overwhelm your thin legs

Styling strategy to make your legs look long and lean..

If you want your legs to look the leanest possible in lace tights, streamline your outfit with a pair of shoes, skirt or dress similar in the similar hue as the hosiery.

You can also wear a long cardigan or vest that "hooks" with the tights - guiding the eye up and down, not to the sides.

Didn't think you can wear lace tights for work? The trick is to keep the rest of your outfit very simple. Combine the hosiery with for example a tailored black shift dress and black pumps or ankle boots. It also works with a turtleneck sweater dress and if you dare, a pencil skirt plus white dress shirt. Remember to stick to simple lace details.

Sassy Party Outfits:

Flaunt your legs with mini dresses and short skirts. A classic and stylish look would be the short bandage dress or long tank top along with lace tights. Indulge on sexy strappy high heels shoes or pointy black boots. Keep the accessories at a minimum because your legs will be doing all of the talking ;-)

Everyday Casual Outfits:

Lace tights look gorgeous with mini skirts, tank tees, tunic tops, oversized knit sweaters, - anything casual!
