How to Look Chic in Red Colored Jeans

March 20, 2012: Red colored jeans have recently been spotted on Katie Holmes, Ashley Greene, Kerry Washington (as well as Pippa Middleton and Kristin Kreuk). A bottom garment in a bold color is daring but it makes a refreshing style impact - granted that you wear it right.

The way I see it, a pair of colored jeans works as a statement piece which should be worn with pieces that complement it - such as the right colors and garments that won't make it a red-hot mess.

Let's take a closer look at some of my fashion tips on how to look chic in red jeans this springtime:

Casual

Katie Holmes wears those jeans effortlessly by pairing them with a light and airy chambray shirt, classy brown flats and stylish oversized sunglasses

Get the look:

Take the jeans from bold to casual-cool with a chambray or denim shirt (a white tunic shirt works too). Pair them with classic flat pumps - or if you prefer a sportier look, a pair of loafers in a neutral. And if that's not chic enough, luxe it up a bit with oversized sunglasses and a gold wrist watch.

Class with Edge

Ashley Greene makes her own sleek 'n edgy look with platform pumps, cut out sweater and black & white houndstooth purse - but we're going to tweak it a little..

Get the look:

Wear the colored jeans with black platform pumps, black sweater and a snake-print day leather clutch purse. The brown clutch complements the red and accentuates it without making looking too much.

Night Out

One of the perfect pieces that goes with the red jeans to complete a night-out outfit with a wow-factor, is a versatile leopard print top - which Kerry Washington demonstrates here. She takes the heat up a notch with black ankle booties and a matching leopard evening purse.

Get the look:

The browns of leopard print work as a neutral and can be worn with other bold colors. Just make sure it's simple so that it won't compete with the jeans. Take a pair of sleek black ankle booties and finish it off with a solid neutral purse - or do a high impact combo with a purse in a complementing color such as Citron yellow, Tangerine or Coral pink. I'm not that into loud fashion but I love how a pair of bright colored jeans can create a chic and frisky juxtaposition - just by combining them with neutrals and luxe accessories.
