"Do It Like The Celebs:
Wear a Hamsa Hand Amulet of Protection Jewelry!"
Hamsa jewelry is a perfect accessory accent for bohonistas and has become a favorite amulet pendant among many celeb fashionistas
such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Lauren Conrad, and it looks like it's here to stay.

I was quite surprised when this trend came out because I've always thought of the Hamsa
symbol as something sacred in Islamic and Jewish religions. However, I got smitten by the hand and created my own Hamsa bracelet with
multi-colored and gold-filled beads :)

The hamsa is known as an amulet protection in many religions but it has turned into a fashion trend, tickling bohonistas interest because of the
exotic and inspirational look.
Because of its spiritual message I wouldn't say that wearing a Hamsa is a trend but more of an individual approach to self-expression which isn't limited by the current fashion trends. Most women find this type of jewelry encouraging and personal (and often spiritual) - and an interesting accent to their outfit.
How to Buy Hamsa Jewelry
Select a color that flatters your complexion
If you're buying a Hamsa necklace then I suggest you select the right metal and colors for your skin tone, hair and eyes.
Since you'll be wearing it close to your face you can score extra on looking fabulous by wearing colors that look good on you.
Cool metals and colors such as silver, white gold and clear white look best on women with bluish-pinkish undertone.
However, warm colors and metals such as red, brown and gold flatter golden/peachy complexions.

Choose quality jewelry if you want it to last
If you've completely fallen for a jewelry piece and plan on wearing it for a
very long time, then I highly recommend you to buy Hamsa jewelry in quality gold or silver. Meaning, you
should go for materials that won't quickly tarnish.

Examples of quality metals are: gold-filled, gold karat 12 and up and sterling silver. A jewelry piece with a thick or purer layer of gold or silver is your best bet and scores highly on the durability-scale.
The downside to buying the cheapest alternative is that it has a very thin coating of gold or silver metal which will start to lose
its color after just a couple of months (a lot faster if you sweat because the salt makes the metal tarnish a lot easier).
How to wear Hamsa jewelry
I'm not into wearing religion-inspired amulets as earrings and I would rather go for a Hamsa necklace and Hamsa bracelet because they're great for layering with other jewelry pieces - creating that effortless chic look.
Styling tips with a Hamsa jewelry:
- Layer a long pendant necklace with a scarf and/or with other necklaces
- Layer a bracelet with your watch and/or other bracelets (wood, pearl, chain, leather)
- Show it off by wearing it alone with a low neckline
