I have to admit that I dislike most graphic t shirts because of the corny logos and sayings. However I'm still in my twenties and there are some types of graphic tees that I feel drawn to and feel comfortable wearing on casual days and even to parties.

The Chic Fashionista's View of What's Stylish?

Anything that isn't teeny-bopperish, a gag or cheesy sayings like 'I'm a Princess'.

But that's to each own :)

Here are examples of what graphics I find stylish:

Anything retro (eg. band and artist tees, old t-shows, cartoons, etc.)
Varsity tees (the real logo, not a made-up varsity)
Symbolizing a cause (eg. supporting Japan after the earthquake)
Boho print (eg. feathers, tribal graphics, etc.)
Disney
Timeless icons (eg. Michael Jackson, Chanel)
Simple and quirky prints like a sketched Eiffel tower with a cute 'Je t'aime'

I find any type of graphic t shirt that transports your memory to your past, chic and casual. Giving that cool nostalgic feel to your outfit. But of course it depends on how you wear the tee.

Fortunately, gone are the days where graphic tees were worn with jeans or sweatpants. Today's fashion scene is about mixing the old with the new and the girly and dressy with the cool and casual!

How to Look Chic in a Graphic T-Shirt

Graphic t shirts definitely give you a youthful and fun look. They're also known as statement pieces that draw attention to your outfit, which inevitably makes the by-passer take a quick judgement of who you are, based on the print you are wearing. So wear it only when you're feeling extra frisky and confident!

Do it like Carrie Bradshaw:

... and wear your favorite print tee with a girly, flouncy skirt along with a pair of killer heels. Very Sex & the City'ish.

With me, I would pair my favorite boho print tee with a sleek short pencil skirt and my wedge sandals.

Frame your print tee by adding a jacket or sweater:

This is the lazy girl's way to styling. Throw on a vest, a blazer, or a denim shirt or if you want to keep it simple, a cardigan.

Pair it with something else than denim:

There are several other bottom garments other than jeans that you can pair with your graphic t shirt. Such as paperbag shorts, fancy skirts and even print skirts. Experiment with high waist and even visible zipped skirts.

Layer on the accessories:

... but try to keep them simple. Bold earrings bring too much noise to your tee. Go for timeless jewelry instead, like for example hoop or stud earrings. Add some glam with an oversized gold wrist watch or finger rings.

Or wrap a skinny belt around a bit too big t-shirt. Remember that this is the chic and Parisian way to styling. So it's up to your personal style - if your clothing personality is edgy lather on the stud leather bracelets!

Try different styles:

The fitted t-shirt with short sleeves is a classic choice - not to mention that it is easier to tuck in your pants. But try updating your style by selecting tees in a more trendy cut, such as crop, oversized, wide scoop-neck showing off your shoulder, etc.

Graphic Tees Are Timeless

Retro tees will never go out of style. As long as there is strong pop culture presence then they will continue in the fashion scene.

Graphics t-shirts are also indispensable comfort clothes when you want to stay in and relax, or just want to unleash the teen or child in you! They may run a bit cold in some seasons where simplicity is 'in' but they won't become fads. Just mold it into your own style, and you'll do just fine :)
