They're available in a wide variety of styles, from the sexy big hoop earrings to delicate small sizes, bamboo hoop earrings to huggie hoop earrings, plastic-made and beaded to glamourous cubic zirconia and diamond hoops. I personally prefer simple medium-sized gold hoop earrings because they blend in with all of my outfits and look fabulous on my warm skin tone.

How to Buy Fashion Hoop Earrings

Make sure the color looks good on you

That means - know if cool (silver, platinum, white gold) or warm (yellow gold, rose gold, etc.) metals suit you better. The temperature of your skin also decides what colors to look for. For example, most brunettes look best in dark colors - compared to blondes who need lighter and delicate colors.

Secure versatile hoop styles

Choose hoop earring styles that blend with most of your outfits. So go for basic round or oval, in either small (5/8 - 1 inch) or classic-medium size (1 1/2 - 2 inches).

Classic metals such as gold and silver stand the test of time - and are versatile with various personal styles and fashion look. They also look complement a colorful or trendy outfit without taking any attention away from it.

You might also want to make sure to secure a pair in a low-key matte texture.

Scale them to your face's size Medium to thick hoops compliment wide, full and/or strong face shapes. Thinner hoops look best on fine-boned, smaller faces as they don't overwhelm the size of the face.

Buy high-quality earrings

If you want them to last - invest more on the quality - for example opt for gold-filled, real gold, platinum and sterling silver, metals that are durable. This is actually a must if you wear fashion hoop earrings daily. They'll last for at least a decade if not longer!

These have a less chance of tarnishing compared to 8 dollar plated hoop earrings.

What size should you choose?

If you want something cute and a bit discreet then go for smaller hoop earrings such as huggie earrings.

The classic "standard" size is 1 1/2 - 2 inches and gives a timeless and trendy look. 5/8 to 1 1/2 inch hoops are the most versatile sizes that go with absolutely everything. Plus, they're appropriate for both casual and semi-formal occasions. Not to mention practical. No need to worry about hitting anyone with them or getting them tangled.

Here are examples of versatile and classic earring hoops:

But if you want to create a more dramatic fashion statement try thicker or/and larger hoops such as door-knockers. These are more suitable for casual events and project a more trendier look.

Mini note Tip: Big hoop earrings look good on wide and round faces as they give the impression of a smaller face.
