Fall Winter Fashion 2009 & 2010: Modern Simplicity"Must-Haves for That Modern Classy Look"
The 4th and last key look from the Fall & Winter Fashion 2009 trend report is called Modern Simplicity. It minimalism cross mixed with 40's and 50's whimsy decorations for a softer and feminine look. Colors: Black, white, grey, beige, camel, red, purple. Details: Leather gloves, Poplin shirts, little black dress, belted coats, tweed skirts and dress pants, long blazers, red lipstick, sexy stockings and tights, ruffles, lace, drape and boyfriend cardigans. A great choice for anyone who likes classic designs and wants to play it safe :-)
CapesA form for outerwear without sleeves with slits for the arms that opens at the front. Think of them as those ponchos you see on Native Americans.
How to Wear Them:Look elegant with capes in versatile colors such as dark brown, black or off-white. Au naturel colors!
Or for a sexy rock-chic look with a pinch of
Goth go for flowy long black capes paired with black leggings, black boots and yes you guessed it, black sweater of your choice.
Or wear it open and show off a bold statement necklace on a plain and solid colored top. Very chic!
Lady-like GlovesYou can look like a million bucks with gloves. It might remind you of your grandma or the old ladies with their matching bucket hat and oversized coats, but if you mix it with modern pieces you can look up-to-date and sophisticated. Two hot glove fabrics this season are leather and suede in black (of course, a classic), dark brown, tan brown, deep purple and olive green. Make sure you buy genuine leather as it will last a very long time. Real leather is also comfier to wear.
How to Wear Them:Pair them with a belted wool coat, knit scarf in your favorite color and pair of sexy black high heel boots for a sleek yet sexy look.Charm JewelryAdd a little vintage charm to your modern cut outfit! How to Wear It:Soften a black sweater and dress pants with a cute charm bracelet or necklace.
Avoid wearing other frilly accessories with the charms.
Instead, go for simple earrings, leather belt and shoes. You can also mix the charms with chain jewelry together for an interesting and slightly edgy style blend.
Also try pearls.
Peep-hole PumpsYou'll be seeing a lot of these this fall! Discover them in pump, sandal and boot style! How to Wear Them:For this season it's time to cover up a little but still keep the fresh and playful look. So mix a pair of black peep-hole pumps with a knee length tweed skirt, colorful opaque tights or striped fashion tights for a stylish twist.Belted A-line Wool CoatsThey're definitely a classic wardrobe piece but in this season the catwalk has glamorized the look! How to Wear It:Make sure that the hemline of the coat doesn't hit the calves (the thickest part of your legs) because it can shorten them and make you look stubby. Choose a knee-length coat that either hits your knee or mid-thighs. I'm not a fan of realy long coats as they look outdated, not to mention that they drag down most body shapes and heights.
To achieve that ultimate glamorous coat look, wrap a faux fur stole around your shoulders and slip on a pair of high boots. The skinny leather belted coat look
has also frequently dazzled through the catwalk.
Poplin White ShirtAaaah, another classic that never seem to fade. But this time around expect to see lots of feminine ruffled white shirts paired with pencil skirts and tweed dress pants. Office work wear revisited!
How to Wear It:There are so many ways to wear a white dress shirt. I've even created a page about it here.Drapey CardiganOne of favorite fall and winter pieces! You just gotta love the flirty open drape in the front. Anything that drapes is hot this season!
How to Wear It:Some of my favorite ways to wear it is to wrap a wide or multiple skinny belt around the waist, either showing off a little bit of top beneath it or wearing it totally closed. Go casual with classic dark blue jeans and a lovely pair of pointy or ballerina flats or boots in black, brown or tan.Boyfriend BlazerThey're still in for fall and winter 2009-10 and I don't think they'll ever completely fade as a trend. In fact, it's a staple that every woman needs in her wardrobe to look sophisticated. But this season you'll be seeing a lot of boyfriend/long/oversized blazer jackets, and if you love some shine and sparkle then I think the sequin-collared blazer will appeal to you.How to Wear It:Stay right-on-trend by mixing casual pieces with the classy blazer. Avoid going classy from top to toe. Try adding a trendy beaded necklace or top.
It's all about off-setting the sophisticated look with the unexpected. Like if you have a
rocker chic style, try a combo of blazer, basic v-neck tee, dark blue denim shorts and short ripped tights ;-)
I also think chain necklace and blazer would look great together. However, these outfits have already been mentioned in
in Iron Maiden Fall Winter Fashion 2009.
