Fall Winter Fashion 2009 & 2010: Boho De Luxe"Essential Pieces for a Boho De Luxe Style"
The first key look of fall/winter 2009 fashion trends is "Boho De Luxe". It consists of 70's glamour and exotic details. This is personal one of my favorite looks as I absolutely heart bohemian style clothing<3 Here's a super-quick overview of the main elements in Boho De Luxe: Colors: Brown, black, olive green, yellow, gold. Details: Ethnic and folkloric prints, vintage floral prints, layered necklaces, fur, suede and leather hobo bags, sexy but refined 70's thigh high boots. Let's take a closer look at some of the pieces that you migh consider adding to your wardrobe:
Military JacketInspired by Michael Jackson (RIP) custom-made, braid and button-bedecked military jackets. Fast forward today and you'll find the similar style on the catwalk. (check out Rihanna with her Balmain military jacket)
How to Wear It:It looks good with any pants and even shorts. The jacket is eye catching so you might want to pair it with basic dark wash jeans. Wearing a black military jacket with black bottoms can make it look like a costume, so stick to jeans. Feminize the look with heels and nice makeup!Suede and Leather BagsA classic among bohonistas! Simple and solid colored suede and leather bags should be on the top of your shopping list for fall winter 2009! Indulge in tan, brown or black suede/leather bags for the casual bohemian look. If you want something that goes with everything, choose bags with minimal details. However, if your style is more on the fun side, try leather bags with braided straps, buckle pockets or maybe some gold and exotic embellishments.
How to Wear Them:It depends on your body shape. If you have for example a pear body shape and want to disguise your hips and butt, you might want to opt for suede bags that fall around your midriff.
Letting it hang around the hip-area will only highlight it. If you choose the dark brown or black colored bag then you have nothing to worry
about because the color is already slimming. Click here to learn more about how to choose
the right handbags for your body shape and lifestyle.
Thigh High/Knee High bootsKnee and thigh high boots are the latest comeback from the fall winter fashion 2009 & 2010 catwalk and are higher than ever. Not to mention that they look slimming on most legs! How to Wear Them:They look pretty sexy with opaque tights and a tunic dress!Avoid looking like a 5 cent hooker with 6 important points: 1) Never pair leather thigh high boots with leather. 2) If you're not confident walking in high heels, ALWAYS go for flat heels. 3) For trendy look go for leather and suede boots. Avoid the trashy and glossy patent boots. 4) Keep it simple by opting for black and dark brown thigh high boots. They're versatile than other colors and slim your legs and stature. If you want to really elongate your legs, pair black boots on black tights. 5) Stick to straight and skinny pants. Avoid the "stuffed" look.
6) Make sure your thighs fit snugly in the boots
to avoid flab bulging out at the sides. If you're shopping for these type of boots online, always take your measurements and carefully compare it with the
item description.
Faux Fur Stoles/Scarves
How to Wear Them:It definitely exudes a glamorous and rich look so balance it out by mixing it with other casual and basic pieces.
A faux fur stole looks
up-to-date and gorgeous with a blazer, wool pea coats and even parkas but without the extra fluff around head.
Exotic Print Blouses and TunicsIf you're a bohonista then I'm sure your wardrobe have lots of these. But if you want the latest within exotic tunics, buy the ones with jeweled necklines and shoulders or folkloric prints.
How to Wear Them:Wear print sparingly by keeping it one place of your body. Accentuate the richness with exotic metals like yellow gold or rustic silver jewelry.Multi Layer NecklaceThese are really hot this season. Be it multiple pearl strings, gemstones, chain, and beads.
How to Wear It:If you're heavy around the upper half, stick to long and simple chain and pearl layers to create a leaner bust and torso.Make sure the necklaces are long enough to hit the top of your boobs, even longer is better! It gives a casual gypsy vibe throughout your outfit.
Tip: Try mixing different types of long necklaces together for a fun and eclectic look!
Gypsy BeltsBelts with coin, stud and other exotic embellishment is one of the greatest fashion statement pieces for this key look. How to Wear Them:If you have a thick waist or a heavy upper top then avoid these types of belts, they can easily highlight your midriff and make you look thicker around the middle.
It looks great with a simple dress or sweater, wrapped around the middle for a modern boho look.
