Evening Bags and Purses
There's no doubt that evening bags and purses are the icing of your outfit! Dressy and plush purses go with a beautiful evening gown, and leather envelopes complement a fab party outfit.
One of my favorite evening purse styles is without a doubt the leather envelope. It's versatile and go with most of my casual and party outfits. It's simple and super chic.
However, I'm not into fancy purses so if I have to attend a semi-formal occasion (which is quite rare, maybe twice or thrice a year in average) where the dress code is slightly strict, I take out my classic satin evening purse in black or cream which I've had for the last five years! They never let me down - they're just classic and never compete with my pretty outfit!
How to Buy an Evening Bag
Secure the basics
Whether you rarely or often attend formal occasion, you need atleast two dressy purses for those inevitable wedding parties and other semi-formal occasions that require you to look extra pretty.
You need something that goes with all outfits and color combos, which is why I highly recommend securing:
Black satin evening bags from endless and eBags
White satin evening bags from Dollsbag and eBags
Notice how simple and versatile they look? No need to buy a new evening purse for every outfit. And you definitely don't need to spend time figuring out if they match with your the colors or outfit your wearing. These blend in with absolutely everything.
Be practical with your choice of evening bag
Most sequined/bead purses are too fragile to carry at crazy parties. When I worked at Accessorize, sequin bags were one of our highly complained products because some of the sequins would go missing. Yes, you guessed it - it was right after the customer carried heavy books in it or after a wild night out.
Leather and satin are quite durable and will last you a long time.
I also suggest that you look for a purse that has hand or shoulder strap just in case you get tired of constantly having to carry it with your hand. However if you're opting for a clutch purse, make sure it's not to big for your hand. For extra comfort - it has to mold into your palm to give you that extra grip.
This leads me to the next pointer to buying evening purses...
It has to complement your body shape and scale
If you want to make a professional impression you need a purse that is scaled to your body size. So if you're a Plus Size, opt for a slightly bigger bag - and if you're Petite carry a smaller-scaled purse. If you're something in the middle or a petite plus size, select a medium-scaled evening purse.
This is super-super important to achieve that nice, well-dressed look. A too big purse can make you look smaller and drag down your stature. A too small purse on the other hand can make you look bigger in comparison.
