Denim Leggings to the Rescue!Denim leggings (also known as "jeggings") are a great alternative to stiff, thick skinny leg jeans. They're comfy, light and trendy and taper nicely around the butt, hips and legs. You can also find them in straight leg style which help balance out curves.
It wouldn't surprise me if women have made these a wardrobe essential! For me, they are a "must" during the warmer months because they feel sooo good on my legs. I mean, who wants sweaty butt cheeks at the end of their work day? Denim Leggings are VersatileThey're one of my favorite types of fashionable spandex leggings because of their flexibility. The beauty behind stretch denim leggings is that they have made transition from seasons a breeze. Your favorite dress can be worn regardless of the dropping temperature outside. They're perfect for occasions where you want to dress up but still be comfortable.
I was quite apprehensive when this trend came out but was pleasantly surprised when I took the plunge and tried a pair on and combined them with my tunic shirt.
Don't knock it until you've tried it!
Jeggings - the New Skinny Jeans?
They're comfortable but don't sport the casualness leggings are known for. Jeggings are stretchier and have a higher waist, which are flattering features on us with hips, thighs and a butt! They basically give you the curves on all the right places. Wearing denim leggings as pants is a no-no, but jeggings let you tuck in your tops without looking tacky!
Speaking of Wearing Leggings as Pants..A pair of denim leggings are in my opinion a complementary accessory to a long top or sweater. They should be worn with a short dress or long top only. It doesn't matter how "perfect" your body is or how much you don't care about what other think, tucking in your top in them makes it look tacky and you risk showing off your muffin top which is definitely not an attractive look. It's like wearing pantyhose without a skirt.
The right way to pair your leggings is to make sure that the top or dress cover your 3/4 of your butt when bending over :-)

Think again. It's all about balancing your body shape. If you're bottom-heavy then wear accessories, tops and colors that demand attention to make your lower half less noticeable.
If you're not convinced, look for leggings with a straight leg - which is a leg cut somewhere between skinny and bootcut. This helps balance out your hips and thighs.
Tip: If you want your legs to look longer and leaner, go for leggings with visible side stitches or visible zippers. Have in mind that these details make them look casual which is slightly more difficult to dress up.
Make sure the top covers your butt even when you're bending
So pair them with oversized sweaters, tunic dresses, mini dresses, long shirts,
long t-shirts, etc. This is the right way to wear all types of leggings (of course, jeggings can be worn as pants). Chic fashion got no mercy towards Lady Gaga!
If you're a plus size
You'll find flattering leggings that fit like a glove with brands such as Not Your Daughter's Jeans or James Jeans which can be found at Nordstroms.
