My favorite crop length of this jacket ends at the upper hip - which is considered short but not quite cropped. How to Wear Cropped Denim Jackets

Secure the basics

The chic way is to never too short on the jacket - so secure a length that hits the top of your hip-bone or midriff if you have a long torso. This length goes with anything without looking too trendy.

Make your first short denim jacket a medium to dark blue wash as lighter washes are too summery and won't look that well with a lot of outfit styles.

Also keep the fades and details at a minimum.

If your waist is short then this can be an issue. Especially if you decide to wear it with a top in a color that contrasts with the jacket - it visually chops up your body frame.

So if you have a short torso style your outfit strategically. The trick here to make sure that you're wearing a long top (or a dress) in a similar color to the blue denim. Think black, blue, deep purple, deep reds, deep greens, and so on. This helps make your waist look long and lean.

The flip side to a cropped denim jacket (and other short jackets for that matter) is that it helps make your legs longer. The trick here is to make sure you're wearing a fitted and long top underneath it to make your waist look longer. However this shouldn't be an issue if you want to make your legs look longer, which is considered attractive and slimming/lengthening than a long waist.

Play with dresses

A short denim jacket is the perfect companion to casual dresses - from knit sweater to slim-fitted maxis, basic tank to cute floral dresses. You can also wear it with a long tunic top or shirt with a pair of leggings.

What I love about the denim jacket is that it can tone down a dressy outfit and create an effortless casual-cool and chic flair to it. It looks hot with a black mini skirt and platform shoes. So instead of wearing a leather jacket try a denim jacket instead. It'll tone down the dressed up look, adding a cool flair to your outfit.

Be careful with the Denim on Denim-look

A denim suit makes you look like an ex-convict or cowgirl. But you can go for denim bottoms that are different colored than the jacket. Like black or white denim. Or light with dark denim.

Make the denim-on-denim work with chic interest such as a pearl necklace, a pair of trendy shoes and a stylish handbag.
