Aviator Jacket

Inspired by the first outfit in the Burberry Prorsum catwalk – the aviator jacket with shearling collar. It’s definitely the hottest key item for F/W 2010-11. Its Amelia Earheart 20’s and 30’s aviator styled cut and design along with the furry textured collar gives a chic mix of glam and vintage. It sent the trend through the roof! It didn’t really appeal to me at first but the more I see it in different outfit combinations, the more I’m beginning to love it.

• If you hate fluffy fashion then pick an aviator jacket with minimal fur details, the sheepskin along the collar is often more than enough.


• If you’re petite, have a short waist or are self-conscious about your upper body then avoid the aviator jacket with horizontal contrasting fur (ex. White on brown or black) because it’ll make you look wider and shorter.


• To recreate the shearling aviator look for cheap, experiment by adding a faux fur stole or scarf with a leather jacket (which you probably already have in your closet). Leather and fur look amazing together.


• As with most leather jackets, it can look really chic with everything and anything, from cute tea dresses, casual boho tunic top to skinny jeans.
