Inspired by the first outfit in the Burberry Prorsum catwalk – the aviator jacket with shearling collar. It’s definitely the hottest key item for F/W 2010-11. Its Amelia Earheart 20’s and 30’s aviator styled cut and design along with the furry textured collar gives a chic mix of glam and vintage. It sent the trend through the roof! It didn’t really appeal to me at first but the more I see it in different outfit combinations, the more I’m beginning to love it.
- If you hate fluffy fashion then pick an aviator jacket with minimal fur details, the sheepskin along the collar is often more than enough.
- If you’re petite, have a short waist or are self-conscious about your upper body then avoid the aviator jacket with horizontal contrasting fur (ex. White on brown or black) because it’ll make you look wider and shorter.
- To recreate the shearling aviator look for cheap, experiment by adding a faux fur stole or scarf with a leather jacket (which you probably already have in your closet). Leather and fur look amazing together.
- As with most leather jackets, it can look really chic with everything and anything, from cute tea dresses, casual boho tunic top to skinny jeans.
Not sure if it will suit your body type? Not sure what clothes to wear it with?
